Environment

about our
planet's future.

In 2022 Lodisna signed the largest fleet decarbonisation agreement in Europe through the use of biofuel, exceeding 4M litres refuelled in 2024 and avoiding the emission of almost 7,000 tonnes of CO2.

Working on the premise of technological neutrality, we are well aware of the environmental impact of essential activities such as transport. While we work proactively on the research and development of new sustainable transport methods, we do everything in our power to reduce the pollution inherent in our own activity.

Most of our tractor units are fitted with engines Euro VI step E, which we renew regularly in order to cut greenhouse gas emissions (International FTL Service, renewed every 3 years). This engine was designed to meet the strict Euro VI environmental standards, reducing nitrogen oxide emissions by 77% and particulates by 50% compared with the Euro V regulation. During 2024 we renewed the fleet with a total of 115 new tractor units.

We work with premium brands (Volvo, Mercedes, Renault, Scania, etc.), among other reasons because they use recycled materials to manufacture their vehicles. In the specific case of Volvo Trucks, up to 30% recycled materials are used in the manufacture of its trucks. In addition, up to 90% of a Volvo truck can be recycled at the end of its service life. In the same way, Michelin supplies us with its X Line Energy tyres, which reduce fuel consumption and pollution. It is estimated that each truck fitted with these tyres can cut its emissions by approximately 5 tonnes of CO2 per year. Michelin X Line Energy tyres are designed to last longer, which means fewer replacements and therefore less waste.

Our traffic department is constantly working to streamline routes and reduce empty mileage.

As a result of everything set out above, we have managed to cut the diesel consumption of our entire fleet by 26% in recent years, considerably reducing the environmental footprint of our activity. Initiatives have been introduced such as the use of HOV100 biofuel, which already accounts for 50% of our refuelling. Using HVO100 can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 90% across its entire life cycle, from the collection of raw materials through to final use.

Recycled tarpaulins have been fitted to its semi-trailers, and Aero cabs are used to reduce aerodynamic drag, improving the airflow around the truck, maximising the vehicle's energy savings and minimising CO 2 emissions. Investments have also been made in 100% electric trucks and duo-trailers.

Although we know there is still a long way to go, our commitment to sustainability is firm. We will continue to work hard in the years ahead to reduce our emissions and to meet the strictest environmental targets in the sector and in society as a whole. In 2022, Lodisna registered with the Register of Carbon Footprint, Offsetting and Carbon Dioxide Absorption Projects held by the Spanish Climate Change Office (OECC). This constant progress is reflected in our 2040 objective, the turning point we have set for the creation of our own sustainability plan.
